Flora & Feather was born out of one of our mothers’ frustrations with the generic designs of most wrapping paper. Inspired by her deep appreciation for Aotearoa’s native flora and fauna, she envisioned wrapping paper that reflects their beauty and honours their cultural significance. Our designs, which feature native flora and fauna, are created in collaboration with a small Māori artist, weaving stories of our land, people, and culture into every fold. We’ve also identified that wrapping paper generates significant waste, contributing to pollution and climate change. New Zealand’s biodiversity includes a high proportion of threatened and at-risk species due to these environmental issues. Through our designs, we raise awareness of the importance of preserving the environment for future generations while supporting charities like Forest & Bird, which specialise in the protection and conservation of New Zealand’s indigenous flora and fauna.
